My good friend Chrissy over at Eat Sleep Breathe FI recently launched her How Much Does It Cost To Live The FIRE Life? Interview Series earlier this year where guests from all over the world expose their core cost of living expenses so we can try to get a glimpse into how much it costs to live the FIRE life in various locations. For those who have not heard of this series, I would highly recommend checking it out! The link above is where all the previous interviews are located.

You know we are open with our numbers so we were game to hop right into this awesome series as it’s basically a collection of annual spending reports to give you a sense of how your core expenses compare to other people pursuing FIRE around the globe. We think the more transparency in the FIRE community the better when it comes to numbers so that those earlier on can get a decent sense of how people are optimizing their spending in various categories.

For those that do not know Chrissy, she was featured in our FIRE Community Guest Interview Series right around the new year. I’m pretty sure this interview has the most comments on any post from our blog so that should tell you how much her story and writing style resonated with others! Chrissy is extremely active in the FI space as not only does she have her own blog (which as a fellow blogger I know how much of a time suck that is!), she is also the co-host of the awesome Explore FI Canada podcast, is active on Twitter – which I am clueless about, AND one of the admins of the ever growing ChooseFI Canada Facebook page. And she has two teenage boys! AND I’m always pestering her with texts throughout the day asking for her opinion or thoughts on this or that. All that to say, she’s very busy and very passionate about helping others reach FI.

Back at the infancy of this blog, I wrote a post on A Look Into Our Monthly Expenses in 2019. I’ve been meaning to write an update to this and have just kept pushing it off (can you tell I’m having blogging fatigue). Well, I’m happy to report that this interview with Chrissy was the impetus I needed and is essentially the 2021 update to our spending. You know me, Little Miss Detailed Dolly… my responses are filled with all the deets explaining how we’re able to keep many of our monthly expenses on the low end.

Ok ok let me wrap up over here so you can get to the good stuff! I hope you enjoy the interview and that you’ll check out the rest of the series along with Chrissy’s awesome blog.
